The Scrap Bin: End of June
The Scrap Bin
End of June
Started off June with a few endings... in personal news, my sister graduated from her Doctorate program with a PHD in Clinical Psychology after six hard earned years (go Dr. Kaitlin!) and my first crop of students graduated from their Intro to Sewing class! Is it possible to be equally proud of all of them?
Going up to Seattle for Kaitlin's graduation and walking around Queen Anne in all of it's Emerald City splendor begged the question (for the millionth time) ... do I belong in the Pacific Northwest? Again, that question remains mystically unanswered.
On the Home Ec front, we've been easing into a summer tempo over here at Home Ec as we prep for Summer Camps (there are still a few spots open!) and are already reminiscing about last night's BYOEmbroidery Workshop. You all have loved that class as much as we have loved hosting it, but keep your eyes peeled for some different offerings for summer workshops. (announcements coming soon!. Change is good, people!
One thing we're really excited about...
Summer Intro to Sewing for Kids - Week 1
Monday, July 8 - Thursday, July 11
1:30-4:30 PM
Ages 8-12
Meanwhile...
Next On Our Makes List: Preemptively striking on those hot August nights where it's 2am and I'm cursing the heat and dreaming about my down comforter. Going to make a pair of Carolyn Pajamas by Closet Case Patterns. Specifically loving these baby pink linen ones by The Handcrafted Cooperative.
Adding to Our Stash: Bonus points for any fabric/clothes that make me lol in addition to making me look super cute. See: Smelly Cat fabric from The New Craft House.
Watching This: Honestly, what am I not watching is a better question at the moment. Taking a hard stance on summer time actually being the best time for TV viewing. All the shows that piled up throughout the year just begging to be binged. At the moment: Chernobyl, Handmaid's Tale, Bachelorette. All basically the same show, when you think about it...
Listening to This: It's been established that my music taste is the worst. Not even going to apologize for it at this point. With that said, I stand tall as I endorse the new Jonas Brother's Album (that word feels like it's giving a little too much credit), Happiness Begins. To even the scales, I've also been listening to a lot of Jill on Money, a podcast about... yes. Money. See? I'm an adult.
Last Thing(s):
Instant Pot Hamburger Helper by Salt and Lavendar
The Body Positive Beach Manatee by Zeppelin Moon
Bought one leotard to mindlessly put on under overalls (shout out Jaclyn Jumpsuit), skirts and basically everything else... and then bought two more very shortly after. Kind of a revelation.
k bye! xo
